Villa La Torre
Villa la Torre was born at the end of 1100, when the main structure was built as a watchtower to dominate most of the Arno valley and to control the passage that leads to the city of Bologna. The passing area where today the villa stands, was used since the time of the Romans, who used the area adjacent to the river as a place to rest and store their weapons before entering the city. After nearly a century the tower was enlarged three times its original size to form a fortified tower with exterior walls in solid stone. However, time passing the military function of the structure became useless, the land surrounding the tower began to be cultivated and a new farm house structure was built adjacent to the tower, for a total of 551mq.
The villa is composed of 25 rooms, including 6 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, multiple bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms. The Villa is situated on the hill overlooking the valley with the view reaching up to Florence, which is about 12 km. The surrounding land is about 6000 square meters with olive and fruit trees and a swimming pool.
