You can have a Religious ceremonies conducted at any time and in any place in Scotland as long as the Priest / Viccar or registered marriage celebrant agrees. In Scottish churches, there is no provision for getting married by the publishing of banns.
Civil weddings however can only take place in a register office with the ceremony conducted by Registrar during office hours. Because the weather in Scotland is so unpredictable - wedding venues are booked early to take the short summer dates. For this reason a wedding should be planned early.
